Derek is an experienced transactional law attorney who advises clients on a variety of business, real property, and estate planning and administration legal matters as follows:

  • He advises clients spanning many industries, such as software and technology development, e-commerce, telecommunications businesses, professional services, and non-profits, on a variety of business and corporate law matters, including:  corporate financing; securities; organization formations and restructurings; mergers and acquisitions; asset purchases and sales; corporate governance; and employment. 
  • Derek’s breadth of experience enables him to provide clients with in-house counsel services as and when needed.
  • He has a real estate practice that includes advising clients on financed property purchase and sale transactions and leasing arrangements.
  • He assists clients with preparing estate planning documents, such as wills, trusts, and powers of attorney for individuals and married couples, and probate administration and settlement of estates.
  • Part of a multi-firm legal team representing a public company in connection with various acquisitions of telecommunications businesses, ranging from hundreds of millions to $1 billion.
  • Represented the seller of a conglomeration of insurance companies in an over $100 million F-reorganization transaction.
  • Advised a business client on the sale of a $9 million property in the connection with a mixed use shoreline development by the Port of Everett.
  • Assisted with the development and implementation of a records management program and related governance policies for a large cruise line enterprise.
