On Friday, Hillis Clark Martin and Peterson attorneys Jake Ewart and Jessica Kerr filed an amicus brief with the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington on behalf of former U.S. government and national security officials, including John Kerry, Madeleine Albright, and Chuck Hagel, opposing the Administration’s re-direction of military funds to build a border wall with Mexico.
“This is an important national issue, and these former officials, who have served in senior leadership roles in administrations of both political parties, have a valuable perspective to add,” comments Ewart. “These amici include former Secretaries of State, former Secretaries of Defense, a former Secretary of Homeland Security, former CIA Directors, and others who have served in the highest levels of government. Collectively, they have devoted a great many decades to protecting the security interests of the United States. We were honored to help them bring their views to the Court’s attention.”
HCMP thanks attorneys Jake Ewart and Jessica Kerr, as well as legal assistant Krista Stokes, who worked with Yale Law School’s Peter Gruber Rule of Law Clinic to file this brief.
