HCMP continues to expand its Business Group by announcing the return of Michael Edwards, a transactional business and real estate attorney. He provides sophisticated counsel to his clients, advising on fundraising strategy, investor relations, and policy concerns. He also counsels businesses on compliance with a wide range of laws and regulations, from national employment, data privacy, and data security laws to local landlord-tenant laws and short-term rental regulations.
In the real estate context, Michael has extensive experience with structuring and negotiating the purchase, sale, development, financing, and leasing of large commercial properties. He has been at the cutting edge of short-term rental regulations and their interaction with landlord-tenant laws and fair housing laws nationwide, drafting consumer-facing program documents (including supply-side master leases and subleases) and related documents designed to comply with rapidly-changing regulatory requirements.
His prior in-house experience informs his uniquely business-minded approach, counseling clients like startups, commercial lenders, healthcare networks, and real estate investment firms on how to best balance risk and opportunity.
Michael returns to HCMP after serving as acting in-house corporate counsel to Loftium. As part of the HCMP team once again, he will continue advising businesses throughout the Pacific Northwest. For his undergraduate degree, Michael attended Brigham Young University, and received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Washington Law School.
