City of Seattle Releases Draft One Seattle Plan: A Comprehensive Vision for 20-year City Growth

The City of Seattle has introduced the Draft One Seattle Plan, a significant update to the city's Comprehensive Plan. This Plan is designed to guide Seattle's growth over the next two decades, focusing on affordability, equity, and sustainability while preserving the distinct character of its neighborhoods. Implementation of the Plan will lead to targeted zoning changes in the next year. Anyone who owns property or seeks to own property in the City should review this Plan. Please contact Holly Golden or Abigail DeWeese to discuss how the Plan could impact your property or business. There is a 60-day comment period on the Plan.

Key components of the Plan and potential zoning changes include:

  • Implementing Washington’s “Middle Housing” law
  • Designating 24 new Neighborhood Centers with increased housing capacity
  • Expanding boundaries of existing transit-served centers for more density
  • Increasing anti-displacement measures in zoning regulations; and
  • Prioritizing transit-oriented growth
